5-Step Plan
Our selling tips
We only sell clothing that looks like new, because we believe in the power of quality and appearance. That’s why we ask you to only bring items that are still in perfect condition. We prefer one bag filled with beautiful, carefully selected items over a large quantity of less attractive clothing. Through this approach, we ensure that our store remains a beautiful and inviting place for everyone. Take the time to go through the steps carefully, and we look forward to welcoming you with your valuable contribution to our store, where together we can create a fantastic selection.
Bring in by season
We gladly welcome stylish women’s and men’s clothing that perfectly matches the season! Additionally, shoes, bags and accessories are more than welcome, as long as they are in excellent condition.
Spring/summer: Feb 1 – Jul 31
Fall/winter: Aug 1 – Jan 31
Condition counts
Bring in the clothing
We kindly ask you to bring your clothing in a sturdy bag. Avoid using shoe boxes, suitcases, crates and clothing on hangers, as this is not ideal for our intake. Don’t forget to add your name and phone number to the bag, so we can easily reach you. For the opening hours of an Appel Ei near you, take a look at our stores. As soon as we open our doors, you’re welcome to bring in your clothing.
Register get started
When you bring items to Appel Ei for the first time, it’s very easy to register at the sales counter. One of our friendly staff members is ready to guide you step by step through the registration and selling process, so you know exactly what to expect. After submitting your items, they will be carefully evaluated by our expert professionals within two weeks. The selected items are then priced and beautifully presented in the store. This way your sales credit can start building up, giving you the chance to give your items a new life while earning a nice extra income.
Payout returns
Why isn’t my clothing suitable for sale?
Wrinkled – Not fresh/clean – Smells musty – Stains – Discolored – Dirty collar – Not in perfect condition – Not like new – Pilling – Hole(s)/snags – Broken zipper – Missing a button – Older than 2 seasons – No demand for – Old print – Wrong season – Broken/damaged
It can naturally be very frustrating when your clothing isn’t accepted, especially since we at Appel Ei are so enthusiastic about new contributions. Our mission is to sell everything we receive, and that’s why we want to explain why not all clothing items can be accepted. Make sure your clothing is clean washed, neatly ironed and folded, since our customers have a strong preference for clean and well-maintained items. With this simple preparation, you significantly increase the chances of returns from your contribution. It’s much more effective to go through your wardrobe critically at home and only bring the most valuable pieces than to present contributions that might not meet our criteria. That’s not fun for anyone, neither for us nor for you.
In principle, we only accept the better brands, but (the nicest) items from HM or Bershka can sometimes also be sold well. Please don’t bring clothing from Shein, Temu, Primark, Esmara, Zeeman, Bristol or Scapino.

Can I bring in new clothing or bulk lots?
Yes, you can also bring in new clothing for sale. For large clothing lots, please contact us at: 030 307 92 67.
Please note! We prefer to take over store overstock when it's from previous seasons or from bankruptcies, but we don't buy directly. Through our sales method (consignment), you'll get a better price than the average buyer offers. We only look for clothing from better brands.
When can I bring in my summer/winter clothing?
Spring and summer: February 1 through July 31
Fall and winter: August 1 through January 31
Which sizes can I bring in?
Women's clothing sizes 34 to 46
Men's clothing sizes S to XXL
Which brands can I bring in?
We generally only accept better brands, but items from Only, H&M, or Bershka can sometimes sell well too. Please avoid bringing clothing from Bristol, Scapino, Shein, Vogele, Tuunte, Miss Etam, or Promiss.
Which items are not suitable for sale?
Items such as lingerie, pajamas, socks, tights, maternity wear, wedding dresses, and similar items are not accepted.
How should I prepare the clothing for drop-off?
Always bring items washed and ironed. Pack them neatly folded in a sturdy bag/shopper, no shoe boxes, no suitcases, no crates, and no clothing on hangers. Include your name and customer number (if applicable) on the bag.
We never accept wrinkled clothing! We also don't accept clothing that's faded or has stains or holes. Clothing must look like new.
Do you sort through the clothing right away?
No, we'll review your clothing as soon as possible, but within two weeks at the latest. Suitable items will be priced and offered for sale in the store. If the clothing isn't accepted for sale, it needs to be picked up (unless it can go to charity). You'll receive an email with an overview once this is done.
What percentage do I receive from sold clothing?
You receive 40% of the selling price when your item sells. We handle the VAT on sold clothing.
How can I receive my accumulated credit?
Our system tracks all sales. You can collect your credit at any time or use it to choose new items in the store. We can also transfer your credit to your bank account, which you can request through your customer portal. Accumulated credit must be collected or used within 1 year.
How are the prices for my items determined?
The buying specialist at Appel & Ei determines product prices. We consider demand, supply, current trends, and condition. If you'd like to discuss the price of a specific item, that's fine. We'll work it out together. Experience shows that items priced too high won't sell. It is second-hand after all.
Can purchased clothing be exchanged?
Purchased clothing can be returned within 7 days to the store of purchase, provided the price tag is still attached. You can choose something else or we'll give you a store credit for the purchase amount.
Who is responsible for my consigned clothing?
We take the utmost care in presenting, selling, and securing your items. However, bringing in items is at your own risk. We cannot compensate for lost, stolen, or damaged items unless there is demonstrable negligence on our part.
What happens to my unsold consigned clothing?
During registration, you can indicate whether you want your clothing back or want to donate it to charity. If you prefer to have it back, that's no problem, but keep track of when you need to pick up the clothing. If you're late, it won't be possible to reclaim the clothing.
All stores support one or more charities. To learn more about the charities, check the store page or ask in the store.
Buy a gift card
Nice and unique gift cards are available at all Appel Ei stores. You can choose from amounts of 10, 20, 30, and 50 euros.
Using and redeeming gift cards
Our gift cards can only be used in the store where they were purchased. Unfortunately, it's currently not possible to redeem the cards at other stores.
What do I bring in? What should I pay attention to?
Fresh Clean
At Appel Ei we select our products with the same care as our customers. We only accept items that are impeccable, clean and odor-free, so we can guarantee the highest quality. Your satisfaction comes first, and we want you to be able to enjoy every purchase you make with us with confidence.
Contemporary
Our customers are looking for stylish and current items that are no older than two seasons. That’s why we ask you to bring us your former favorites, but feel free to leave all those bulk lots with outdated clothing at home. We want to create an offering that is fresh and fashionable, so everyone finds something that fits their personal style and contributes to a sustainable fashion choice.
Condition
Detail is of great importance to us! When a button is missing, a seam is loose or a zipper doesn’t function properly, we unfortunately cannot accept the item. It’s therefore essential to ensure that your items are in perfect condition before you submit them to us, as this not only increases the chance of acceptance but also shows respect for the value of the clothing. Take the time to carefully check and care for your items so they meet our quality standards.
